This panel offers a series of three presentations by master clinicians intercalated with discussions by two family process experts who reflect on how appropriately sensitive observing, listening, understanding, and responding to parental concerns and stresses may facilitate therapeutic work with a child. It emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of parenting, including what we can learn from animal studies, neuro-imaging of mother/child pairs, and from evolutionary perspectives. The Clinical Case Conference stresses what may be dynamic, developmental, and psychoanalytic in working with children’s families.
