Children and adolescents experience high exposure to potentially traumatic events such as witnessing or being the direct victim of violence in the home, community, or school; serious accidents, traumatic deaths, war or terrorism; or medical trauma, disasters, or fires. Although most children are resilient, a significant minority develop clinically meaningful symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, behavior problems, and/or shame related to these experiences. Participants in this Workshop learn about Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based psychotherapy for children with symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, behavior problems, shame, and other symptoms related to trauma.
