In light of the workforce shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists and the increasing demand for access to care, primary care pediatricians, family physicians, and nurse practitioners are more involved in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with simple and complex mental health problems. In these contexts, there is an evolving role for child and adolescent psychiatrists to serve as consultants and mentors to other health care providers. In this Workshop, presenters provide participants with an overview of various models of child psychiatry practice offered in collaboration with primary care. The Workshop is intended to help to prepare participants to function effectively in collaborative primary care settings as well as to contribute to the development and implementation of such programs.
