Tourette's Disorder is a neurological condition consisting of multiple motor and vocal tics that are presumably due to failed inhibition within cortical-striatial-cortical motor pathways. In recent years, there has been a growing recognition among psychiatry and neurology about the utility of behavioral therapy procedures in managing the symptoms of Tourette's Disorder in children and adults. This Workshop provides an overview of behavioral therapy for tic disorders in children, describes the data supporting the efficacy of such procedures, and provides initial training in therapeutic techniques.
