Workshop 26 (ticket)
Advocacy for Children’s Mental Health: Perspectives and Skills

Advocacy, on behalf of one’s patient and for the overall system, is now recognized as a set of skills and knowledge needed by child and adolescent psychiatrists and other mental health professionals practicing within systems of care. Improving services and benefits for children and adolescents with mental illness and payment for services child and adolescent psychiatrists perform requires advocacy at all levels of government. This Workshop teaches participants that they can serve as effective advocates and which levels they can best leverage their considerable knowledge and experiences to best accomplish the goals of achieving effective child mental health services for America’s children.
