Training Forum: The Child Psychiatry Credentialing Exam: Strategies for Success

Training programs in child and adolescent psychiatry will be affected by the changes in the ABPN exam that requires in-program credentialing exams starting in 2010. In this Forum, Larry Faulkner, M.D., Executive Vice President of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) participates in a discussion about how to develop credentialing protocols for fellows within their training programs. ABPN representatives also discuss training for faculty evaluators within programs. Possible models for credentialing are presented by Work Group on Training and Education members.

This is your chance to improve your knowledge about the future exam, to ask important questions, and to explore ideas with representatives from the ABPN. They want to keep you in the loop!

An additional special update from the Residency Review Committee is included. They provide a brief description of changes and new developments, as well as discuss the potential for programs to be cited for not participating in the National Resident Matching Program match.

An update on the Integrated Programs and the new Post-Pediatrics Psychiatry Pilot Programs is also provided.
