This Special Interest Study Group reviews the continuing evolution of the family in the United States, identifies differing levels of involvement that child and adolescent psychiatrists have with families, and discusses the evolution of “family therapy” in mental health care. Participants are encouraged to identify their practice patterns and how family assessment and intervention are integrated into their overall treatment of children and adolescents.
