Substance abuse and physical abuse are problems within family systems that often result in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The film
Radio Flyer was produced in order to highlight the effect of physical abuse in children. Childhood PTSD is a psychiatric disorder that is devastating and children often remember the incidents that caused the abuse in ways that may allow them to survive psychologically during the abusive period during childhood. This film allows an adult to re-construct his memories of abuse from an adult perspective while leaving the audience with a powerful message and clues for interpretation of his experiences.
