Ethical thinking underlies all approaches to medical practice and, as medical specialists, child and adolescent psychiatrists frequently encounter ethical dilemmas. Not uncommonly, these physicians experience uncertainty concerning appropriate venues for guidance in addressing these problems. Attendees are encouraged to relate ethical problems and questions they have encountered in their work, as well as summarize them in written paragraphs for possible use in other educational settings. These questions are discussed in a case-study format, which includes mention of procedures, organizations, and information resources relevant to ethical issues. Attention is paid to addressing a range of ethical issues, rather than permitting focus on a single salient matter.
