Clinical Consultation Breakfast 8 (sold out)
Religious and Spiritual Issues in Clinical Practice

The past three decades have witnessed steadily growing interest in the interface between medicine and psychiatry on one hand, and religion and spirituality on the other. Until fairly recently, the bulk of publications and professional dialogue in this area focused on adults. In the past decade, however, both researchers and clinicians increasingly recognize the significant influence that religion and spirituality, as key components of culture, have not only on normal development, but also on the course and treatment of child, adolescent, and family psychopathology. The focus of this Clinical Consultation Breakfast is to raise awareness of, and foster meaningful discussion about, the role of religion and spirituality in child, adolescent, and family development and functioning, and in the clinical practice of child, adolescent, and family psychiatry.
