This Workshop introduces participants to The Circle of Security™ Project, an innovative early intervention program designed to alter the developmental pathway of parents and their young children. The audience is exposed to the theoretical background, and through extensive videotape review, participants become familiar with practical applications of this model. This intervention integrates over 50 years of attachment research into a video-based intervention to strengthen parents’ ability to observe and improve their care giving capacity. Attachment theory, taught in this way, gives each parent an individualized parenting “road map,” a clear pathway to providing a secure relationship for her/his child. This intervention protocol has been developed specifically for high-risk toddlers, pre-schoolers and their caregivers.
