Rescuing Childhood: Understanding Bipolar Disorders in Children and Adolescents is an educational video whose goal is to increase the awareness and understanding of pediatric bipolar disorder by professionals and families that come in contact with youngsters who struggle with this illness. This hour long video is a compilation of interviews of specialists from diverse backgrounds who work with bipolar children and their families. The film addresses issues such as the controversy over the bipolar diagnosis and clinical presentation in childhood, differences in childhood and adult onset bipolar disorder, neuroimaging, the role of the pediatrician, the importance of early intervention, approaches to treatment including addressing psychoeducation, psychotherapy, psychopharmacologic interventions, and meeting the child's educational needs, and resources to obtain more information.
