Child and adolescent psychiatrists (CAP’s) are increasingly involved in leadership positions with little formal training. This Workshop is designed to assist CAP’s in developing a knowledge base as to administrative responsibilities, improving skills in communication and leading change, and in understanding how improvement science can impact health care delivery and clinical leadership. Participants are encouraged to discuss their own leadership situations and challenges throughout the Workshop. Educational activities include small group work, case study, large group discussion, and supporting interactive didactic material. The majority of the material is based on real cases, highlighting successes, identifying barriers and less optimal outcomes, with lessons learned. Participants develop action plans to address their own leadership challenges upon return to work after the meeting.
