Bullying is a common problem which occurs in schools today, but in the past it has been seen as primarily a male phenomenon, represented by physical aggression or intimidation. The ways in which girls express their aggression, e.g., exclusion, spreading rumors, gossiping, etc., has in the past been seen as “girls just being girls.” But with the recent rise in low self-esteem, school problems, mental health issues, and suicide, amongst this population, the importance of taking a closer look at this phenomenon is now being seen. Female aggression continues to be a serious problem among pre-adolescent and adolescent girls. This Media Theatre helps give the audience a visual representation of the issues experienced and in understanding and classifying these various forms of aggression, the culture of clique hierarchy, its different presentations, and its effects on self-esteem which in turn can help those who treat children and adolescents and their families to empower these students and counteract the effect of these interactions.
