This Media Theatre helps participants understand how media portrayal of sex can be linked to the social and psychological ramifications of teen pregnancy and assists clinicians to identify ways to help teenagers to gain support from family, community, and peers in order to help them make optimal decisions for themselves and their unplanned child.
Juno is a feature film about a teenage girl who finds herself pregnant from a one time sexual encounter with one of her best friends. She finds it impossible to have an abortion but realizes that she is in no position to mother a child. Juno is a rare exception where a teenager experiences all the psychosocial pitfalls of teen pregnancy in a responsible and thoughtful manner.
