Teaching middle childhood and adolescent development using stimulus video is an effective way to bring teaching points to life, engage students, and enhance higher-order learning and retention.
Normal Development in Middle Childhood and Adolescence: A Longitudinal Stimulus Video Observation is shown for the first time during this Media Theatre. Videos move longitudinally and sequentially through a large volume of video clips demonstrating middle childhood and adolescence where attendees review highlights of middle childhood and adolescence by observing short visual anecdotes from two children's longitudinal development. Educators learn how to use stimulus video in teaching normal development. Topics include gaining independence, typical parent-child conflicts, and developing romances. Issues such as the development of self-esteem, formal operations, and identity formation are examined.
