Over the past decade, there has been a movement to increase the use of evidence-based treatment into child and adolescent psychiatry training programs; however, assessment is often overlooked. The need for evidence-based assessment also exists. Assessment instruments increase reliability and prevent misdiagnosis due to clinician bias, but are difficult to implement in non-research settings. This Workshop reviews evidence-based assessment instruments, obstacles to their implementation, and methods of overcoming obstacles when implementing evidence-based assessment in child and adolescent training programs and clinical practice.
