This Clinical Case Conference is designed to describe a treatment program for children with psychological factors effecting physical illness. Three new cases exemplify the types of children treated, treatment strategies, and outcomes. In addition the presenters describe a psychological instrument under development that measures family beliefs about illness, and they present identification and treatment procedures for medical child abuse. The principles of treatment emphasized as well as the details of this conceptual model have broad applicability across treatment settings focused on care of children and teens with combined medical and psychological illness.
