Ethical thinking underlies all approaches to medical practice and, as medical specialists, child and adolescent psychiatrists frequently encounter ethical dilemmas. This CCB acquaints participants with a range of ethical dilemmas currently facing child and adolescent psychiatrists in clinical, administrative, consultative, research, and teaching settings. Attendees are encouraged to relate ethical problems and questions they have encountered, to be discussed in a case-study format, and summarize them in written form for possible use in other educational settings. Discussion includes procedures, organizations, and information resources relevant to ethical issues; and outlines the functions of the AACAP Ethics Committee.
