Finding successful interventions for children with autism and related disorders can be a daunting task for both parents and professionals. Some of the most common and proven interventions are those based on applied behavior analysis (ABA), relational skills, life skills, and communication skills. Through demonstration videos, this Workshop provides practical, meaningful, “real life” exposure to ABA and related interventions including life skills, speech therapy, augmented communication, and speech-generated devices. Concise and useful information is given as to why these interventions are effective for autism spectrum disorders from a neurological, developmental, behavioral, and educational perspective. Handouts provide practical information that can be used in educating parents about resource availability and advocacy.
