Psychoeducation is an important component of the treatment process for ADHD, but traditional psychoeducation is rooted in a lecture format with some multimedia applications that many feel take too long to deliver and are tiring to deliver over and over. Yet, disseminating information is an important task that has direct implications to patient adherence and outcomes. This Workshop explores innovative, efficient modes of disseminating reliable information in an office-based setting using “new Media,” often referred to as Edutainment or education with entertainment value. Participants review the top Web sites pertaining to ADHD; evaluate these sites for their strengths and weaknesses; and learn how to use the information to efficiently educate the patient and the family while running a busy practice. Participants learn to overcome obstacles to implementation and how to run group-based psychoeducational sessions, as well as how to create their own psychoeducational formats.
