Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an effective treatment for traumatized children, adolescents, and caregivers. Despite this evidence, few child psychiatry programs offer training in evidence-based treatments for child trauma. This Workshop provides concise TF-CBT training in the practice components summarized by the acronym “PRACTICE”: Psychoeducation, Parenting Skills, Relaxation Skills, Affective Modulation Skills, Cognitive Coping Skills, Trauma Narrative Development, In vivo Mastery of Trauma Reminders, Conjoint Youth-Parent Sessions, and Enhancing Safety and Future Development. Clinical examples illustrate how to implement the model.
