The work of Gregory Bateson in the fields of biology, ecology, evolution, anthropology, cybernetics, general systems theory, and family relationship theory for much of the 20th century was and continues to be prominent in the practice of family-systems psychotherapy. This film, written, directed, and produced by Gregory’s daughter, is an artistic, experiential, and informative history of his contributions. Concepts that remain important in therapeutic interactions with families and how to use the family-systems psychotherapy approach are discussed after the film is viewed.
