Cultural factors influencing the diagnostic evaluation, developmental and functional presentation, treatment acceptance and planning, and effectiveness of treatment interventions for child and adolescent patients are discussed. Participants are exposed to the application of the DSM IV Cultural Formulation; develop greater comfort and proficiency in treating culturally diverse youth using culturally-informed and evidence-based approaches; and benefit from cultural consultation based on their clinical experiences.
