The Kite Runner demonstrates the brutal impact of war on individuals, their relationships, and society as a whole; the complexities of relationships between generations and social classes; and the vicissitudes of guilt, shame, loyalty, and struggles for resolution and forgiveness. The vast number of children and adolescents who have experienced trauma place great demands on child and adolescent psychiatrists to understand the impact of trauma and its cultural complexities on treatment. This film gives attendees a framework to better understand and approach their patient population.
