Standup Bullying Prevention Program: Comparing Students with and without Disability or Psychiatric Diagnosis
Additional applicant information: Dr. Timmons-Mitchell is a Senior Research Associate at the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research & Education at Case Western Reserve University within the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. Jane also serves as an Adjunct Professor for Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and as an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology for the Department of Psychiatry, CWRU School of Medicine.
Jane directs projects such as an evaluation of the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation SAMHSA grant, fidelity monitoring for the Ohio Department of Youth Services Targeted Reclaim and Cuyahoga County Tapestry System of Care evidence-based practices. From 2008-2011 Jane served as the Associate Director of Evaluation and Research at the Center for Innovative Practices (CIP) at Kent State University. She also has prior experience as the Associate Director of Evaluation and Research and a MST System Supervisor with the Stark County Community Mental Health Board. Her research on MST (Multisystemic Therapy) provided the first independent evidence of effectiveness in the U.S.; these findings are included in the MST training worldwide and have been extensively disseminated.
Dr. Timmons-Mitchell is a licensed psychologist, specializing in child clinical psychology. Formerly, she was a member of the Medical Staff, University Hospitals of Cleveland where she directed clinics relating to youth and family violence. She is a reviewer for the journal Child Maltreatment, The Journal of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and The Archives of General Psychiatry. Jane is also a peer reviewer for the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program.
The National Association of Professional Women, awarded her the 2012-2013 Woman of the Year, Psychology, Ohio Award. For work with the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools Safe Schools Healthy Students grant, Dr. Timmons-Mitchell and her team won an Honorable Mention, SAMHSA Administrator’s Award, for improving access to mental health services in schools.
