Broadening the Scope of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist’s Role: Systems of Care Case Conceptualization
This CCB provides an overview of the history and evolution of systems of care in the United States and how it has changed into an approach now more welcoming to child and adolescent psychiatrists (CAPs). Since the systems of care approach is individualized, strengths-based, and family-focused, it is more likely than traditional approaches to produce better outcomes for children with complex needs. Presentation includes challenging clinical cases, focusing on the benefits of individualized treatment plans that make use of systems of care, and looks at specific, potential roles for CAPs in systems of care.
