Workshop 39 (ticket)
Culturally Informed Practice: Intermediate Skills II
Given the mental health needs faced by America's newest children, child and adolescent psychiatrists can greatly benefit from intensive training on culturally informed practice, based on sound conceptual models and evidence. This workshop provides intensive training to strengthen participant’s effectiveness in this area and increase their comfort working with diverse ethnic/racial populations. This includes engagement and alliance building, culturally informed assessment, the use of cultural formulations in arriving at an appropriate, accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, and the cultural adaptation of treatment modalities, including psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
