Master Clinician Efrain Bleiberg, M.D.: Attachment Theory, Personality Disorders, and the Application of Mentalization
Dr. Bleiberg is a nationally recognized child and adolescent psychiatrist with deep clinical expertise in personality and conduct disorders, trauma, and consequences of maltreatment. He is currently professor and vice chair of the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and behavioral Science, at its new home in Houston, Texas. He is also director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine; and section head of Psychiatric Services and Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bleiberg was born and raised in Mexico, where he obtained his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. He then trained at the Menninger Clinic. The focus of the session is the application of social recognition (mentalization) and attachment theory and research to treating adolescents with emerging personality disorder
