Workshop 9 (ticket)
Art and Poetry in Child Psychiatry

Familiarity with expressive therapies and techniques is essential to comprehensive child and adolescent psychiatry practice, especially for effective partnerships with expressive therapy practitioners at every level of patient care; mental health, educational, and other community settings. Participants obtain direct interactive experience utilizing art and poetry techniques appropriate to assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families. The direct interactive experiences, or exercises, are augmented by introductory explanatory material. Complementary discussion focuses on understanding and utilizing the art and poetry techniques, and the professional and personal applications they have in the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry.
