Topics covered include types and phases of disaster and systems of disaster response; evaluation, intervention, and treatment of children and families at different phases post-disaster; preventive interventions to manage post-traumatic stress; opportunities to get involved with communities and receive training before disasters occur; and ethical and legal consideration and guidelines for public communication. Interactive disaster vignettes illustrate key points and guide the participants through developing strategies to solve the problems presented.
