Workshop 32 (ticket)
The Sounds of Behavior Change: A Motivational Interviewing Workshop

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, effective, evidence-based, person-centered counseling style that addresses ambivalence about change by paying attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen an individual's motivation for and movement toward a specific goal by exploring the person's own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. Participants are introduced to the principles and application of MI and using open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summaries. MI techniques and knowledge may improve behavior change counseling with adolescents and their families.
