The Child Psychiatrist's Guide to Pharmacological and Behavioral Interventions for Sleep Disorders in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults

Major strides have been made in recognizing the impact of sleep loss on children’s neurocognitive functions and academic achievements. This Institute provides the practicing mental health professional comprehensive, pragmatic, advanced knowledge of pharmacological and behavioral treatments for sleep disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. Internationally recognized pediatric sleep experts present the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatments for sleep disorders with an emphasis on clinical characteristics and treatment options, wellness, and prevention. Topics covered include narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, restless legs syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder, sleepwalking, sleep terrors, nocturnal enuresis, REM-behavior sleep disorder, and nightmares; as well as how commonly used psychotropic medications affect sleep, behavioral interventions and practical guidelines for conducting cognitive behavioral therapy, exploration of environmental factors that impact sleep, and factors that determine when referral to a sleep study or a specialty sleep clinic is indicated.
