Workshop 40 (ticket)
Hypnosis as a Psychotherapeutic Facilitator
Hypnosis in the treatment of children and adolescents is a potentially powerful facilitator of therapeutic change. This workshop identifies the clinical relevance of dissociative phenomena to several diagnostic categories; clarifies the clinical usefulness of assessing dissociative capacity with a standard assessment of the patient's hypnotizability, with special considerations of applications with children and adolescent; and explains the merits of integrating the use of self-hypnosis with otherwise relevant therapeutic strategies or modalities to facilitate and enhance the patient's conceptual, emotional, and behavioral reorientation. Clinical indications and application, neurophysiological considerations, and precautions and limitations are discussed.
