Master Clinician: Christoph U. Correll, MD: Targeting Efficacy and Tolerability of Antipsychotics in Youth With Severe Psychiatric Disorders to Improve Outcomes

Christoph U. Correll, MD is Professor of Psychiatry at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Recognition and Prevention program at the Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York. His research and clinical work focus on the identification, characterisation, and treatment of youths and adults with severe psychiatric disorders, including the prodrome, first episode, multi-episode, and refractory illness phases of schizophrenia-, mood-, and aggressive-spectrum disorders. Within this context, he has focused extensively on the evaluation of the benefits and risks of psychotropic medications. Dr. Correll has authored or co-authored over 300 journal articles, served on several expert consensus panels, and is an editorial board member for 11 and reviewer for over 70 journals. He is further the Principal Investigator or Steering Committee member of several large grants, and has received over 30 awards and fellowships for his work.

During this CCB, Dr. Correll discusses ways to enhance outcomes in youth affected by severe mental illness who may require or are currently be treated with antipsychotics. Topics include research findings and real-world data as they inform clinical care, as well as clinical case conference material provided by the participants.
