Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) requires the patients’ active participation and understanding of the task at hand. This is difficult for young children because of their early stage of cognitive development. Their parents also frequently try to “help” by providing them with support which compromises normal parent – child boundaries and can undermine the children’s control over their anxiety. This Workshop presents strategies which allow young, anxious children to make use of a modified CBT format to overcome their symptoms.
