Workshop 4 (sold out)
Telepsychiatry: Can It Work in My Practice?

This Workshop provides an overview of the opportunities, challenges, and solutions in developing a telepsychiatry service within the private practice setting. The ability of telepsychiatry to increase youths’ access to services is well documented and participants are highly satisfied with their care. However, each new telepsychiatry program faces unique opportunities and challenges. Most program descriptions have come from universities, major medical centers, or state agencies. There has been little work disseminated regarding telepsychiatry in the private sector. Throughout this session participants learn the steps for developing and implementing a successful telepsychiatry practice, how to establish an evidence-based practice of telepsychiatry, and how to document the effectiveness of their service. Different venues for a private telepsychiatry practice are also discussed.
