Institute 5 (ticket)
Autism and Related Disorders

There is a growing convergence of basic and clinical research in the area of autism. Knowledge of current methods of assessment and treatment is essential for insuring optimal outcome. This Institute provides participants with an update on new advances in the area of autism and related disorders focusing on current best practices in treatments (medical, behavioral, and educational), new approaches to understanding new assessment methods and mechanisms of the disorder, and implications for diagnosis and treatment. Literature reviews and summaries of basic and clinical research are used to identify areas of consensus and controversy. Cases are used to illustrate applications and common challenges faced by clinicians.
