This Workshop helps participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to teach and implement the AACAP cultural competency curriculum. The Workshop presenters apply the concept of cultural competence in the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry, and describe literature on current cultural competency programs in effect in psychiatry/child psychiatry training sites. Various learning techniques are used to teach hands on skills of teaching cultural competency principles, and implement curriculum-based recommendations in child and adolescent psychiatry training. The participants are able to apply cultural competency principles in the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry. They also learn about various assessment tools and teaching models in a cultural context.
