This SIG features a discussion of the essential family intervention skills for child and adolescent psychiatrists. Participants have the opportunity to discuss problematic and challenging family situations they encounter regularly and to consider useful and practical approaches to family issues that arise in their treatment of children and adolescents. The group has the opportunity to discuss concerns raised by families of differing composition (single parent families, grandparent headed families, etc.) and differing cultures. Methods of ensuring family follow through with recommendations for family therapy are also covered.
