This Special Interest Study Group encourages AACAP members to investigate college student mental health care and related issues; reviews the current status of available mental health services for college students; and formulates ideas to improve access to and utilization of such care. Treatment needs and current modes of providing mental health services and the role of the child and adolescent psychiatrist in aiding patients to make the transition from high school to college are discussed. Participants also gain awareness of legal consideration pertinent to treating this age group.
