There is a need for effective treatments to reduce the frequency and duration of episodes of depression in children and adolescents. This Workshop provides an opportunity to learn about the presentation and clinical features of depression in youth. Attendees become familiar with the practice parameters and clinical guidelines for depression in the United Kingdom and the United States; and learn the basic principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as techniques to target rumination. Routine clinical outcome data and preliminary data from experimental, questionnaire-based, and qualitative studies is presented. An opportunity is provided to apply these techniques to clinical vignettes and video materials presented during the Workshop.
