Telepsychiatry programs are rapidly increasing in an attempt to rectify the disparities that exist in children’s access to mental health care. Guidelines for the practice of telepsychiatry are not well formulated and may vary by state or are not always followed. This Workshop addresses these issues from the perspective of the private practitioner who seeks to provide guideline-driven care through telepsychiatry. Attendees obtain a good working knowledge of available technologies, have the opportunity to view a live connection to one of the presenter’s sites, gain better understanding of current issues in risk management in telepsychiatry practice, observe recordings of typical telepsychiatry session(s), and discuss issues in providing evidence-based care through telepsychiatry. Attendees should download handouts from the AACAP website prior to attendance.
