Spiritual psychiatry is exerting increasing influence on adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. This Special Interest Study Group provides a forum for serious consideration of the implications of spiritual psychiatry as a recognized and endorsed psychiatric practice. Attendees become familiar with studies of the relative risks and benefits of incorporating religion into health care. Ethical implications such as coercion, intrusion into patient privacy, and the role of science versus faith are considered.
