Long-term dynamic therapy for complex illness remains a critically important tool in the psychiatrist’s toolbox and the capacity to develop a psychodynamic formulation is the cornerstone for this treatment modality. This Workshop familiarizes early career child and adolescent psychiatrists and trainees with the six meta-psychological points of view inherent to a psychodynamic formulation, its core elements, its role in treatment planning, and, ultimately, the publication of case reports. Participants are invited to submit psychodynamic formulations or case reports beforehand for critical review by the panel.
