The AACAP Healthcare Access and Economics Committee is actively participating in the process of congressionally mandated revisions to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Manual. Following an overview of the CPT Manual and developmental history of this process, the current status of the new codes and coding methods for child and adolescent psychiatry are presented. The program includes an overview of the CPT coding and Medicare payment systems, fraud and abuse rules, evaluation and management (E/M) codes, psychiatry add on codes, and selected non-psychiatry codes.
