CPT Frequently Asked Questions and Answers 2013
The CPT Psychiatry code section was completely re-written in 2013. The changes raise many questions about what is the correct code to use when billing for reimbursement. Now is the time to develop expertise in utilizing the new codes. Through the use of clinical vignettes, this CCB teaches coding strategies for Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes; as well as two new concepts for psychiatry: psychotherapy codes and interactive complexity codes. Billing requires itemization of the various services performed. In addition, psychiatrists may have to negotiate with third party carriers to obtain appropriate coverage for their patients. Attendees are encouraged to bring their personal vignettes for analysis and discussion.
