Workshop 15 (ticket)
Family-Based Treatment for Young Children with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in young children is a significant problem and being exposed to the skill set necessary for treating this population is an asset to child and adolescent psychiatrists. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) must be adapted to better fit this young age group. This Workshop teaches participants about a developmentally sensitive adaptation of CBT treatment for early childhood OCD, covers assessment strategies for early childhood OCD, developmentally sensitive psychoeducation, and the necessity for introducing parent-based skills. The child and adolescent psychiatrist leaves prepared to incorporate CBT strategies into their treatment of young OCD patients.
