Collaboration Between Child Psychiatrists and Outpatient Subspecialty Pediatricians to Improve Screening and Referral for Mental Health Problems in the Medically Ill Child
Caring for the whole child is crucial. This SIG acquaints participants with the collaborative quality improvement project between child and adolescent psychiatry and outpatient subspecialty pediatrics, e.g., gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology, pulmonology, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, genetics, and spinal fusion disorders. Participants better understand the unique needs and challenges faced by subspecialty pediatricians and how child and adolescent psychiatrists may collaborate to meet the mental health needs of medically ill children. Models of collaboration are explored and a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences is offered.
