CPT Update 2014: Coding and Documentation Strategies

The Psychiatry section of the CPT manual was re-written for 2013. The new coding structure requires psychiatrists to use Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes for medical services, had a new series of add-on codes for psychotherapy services when done with the E/M service, and additional new codes developed for Diagnostic Evaluations with Medical Services and Crisis Services. In addition, a new concept, Interactive Complexity, was introduced as an add-on service to the psychotherapy services. The forum provides a firm understanding of the new coding system, enabling you to effectively code for reimbursement and advocate for patients with third party payors.
